Stefán Karl in “Cyrano de Bergerac” from 2001 to 2002

“ Hercule Savinien Cyrano de Bergerac, a cadet (nobleman serving as a soldier) in the French Army, is a brash, strong-willed man of many talents. In addition to being a remarkable duelist, he is a gifted, joyful poet and is also a musician. However, he has an extremely large nose, which causes him to doubt himself. This doubt prevents him from expressing his love for his distant cousin, the beautiful and intellectual Roxane, as he believes that his ugliness would prevent him the “dream of being loved by even an ugly woman.”

From the wiki page of the play

Stefán Karl Stefánsson has recently become one of the most popular actors of the nation. He talks about Cyrano de Bergerac, love and solitude - 29.12.2001

I sit at the painter’s desk on a day many will call the third day of Christmas. waiting for ten minutes, had made me an unnecessary barbecue about the open space of the place. At the end of the day, I am lured by friendly staff. Stefán Karl, however, has not arrived. I sat out in the corner, opera street, and take care of me, order espresso. I’ll shuffle some piles down on a sheet. Stefán Karl has agreed to talk to me about love, the timing appropriate because he played one of the biggest roles in the night when the National Theater premiere Cyrano - a spooky heroic play by Edmund Rostand. He plays Cyrano, the one in love who has a big nose. The doors open and Stefán Karl sets the floor in a well-dressed and fresh fashion; gets a seat.

Also known as the “Crow’s Palace” ,The play was premiered as the final assignment of graduates of the Icelandic Performing Arts Academy, directed by Hilmir Snær Guðnason, written by  Einar Örn Gunnarsson and published by Óskráð - it premiered by the start of February until the end of April ,and it was live on TV for Easter

2nd project of 3 premiered in Lindarbæ, April 29, 1999

“Stefán Karl Stefánsson was very convincing as the sincere innocence, Frans, who embodies great dimensions in his mind and all his actions; Hinrik Hoe Haraldsson played in a nice and funny way, the nice psychiatrist, Jonathan, who cares for the painter Anna, who does not repay his feelings. María Pálsdóttir takes a good deal with Anna’s role, and her collaboration and Stefán Karl was nuanced.”
